Project Overview New Facilities Renovations or Improvements

The Lake Wilmore ​Recreation Center includes two full-sized basketball courts, locker rooms and restrooms, two activity rooms, a fitness room with equipment, two multi-use/fitness rooms, an elevated indoor walking track, indoor concessions, twelve covered lit pickleball courts, a multi-use/party room, offices and storage space, conference room, and a zero-entry pool featuring shallow areas for lessons and water aerobics, and a lap pool. The pool will be heated and have a cover feature to promote year round use.​ The project is part of the City of Auburn's Parks‚ Recreation‚ & Culture Master Plan.

Please note that project completion dates are subject to change based on weather and other conditions. Project anticipated finish dates may not coincide with actual day of opening.

Opening: An official facility opening date for the public will be coordinated by the contractor and City staff, and will be announced at a later date.

The center is not yet open for full use. The gymnasium opened for scheduled basketball activities on January 11th. The remaining portions of the center will be opened in phases as the construction is completed.

The contractor continues to work toward completion of the Community Center. All change orders, including installation of the wireless access points and electrical for Auburn AV have been completed. A stocking and training temporary certificate of occupancy was received for the main building on 12/10/2024. Parks and Recreation began moving furniture in on 12/10/2024. The gymnasium and restrooms opened for the Auburn Youth Basketball program on 1/11/2025. Contractor is currently working to close punch list items on the main building and complete the swimming pool.​
